My days are busy. They are filled with tasks to start, jobs to complete, and people to interact with. Yet sometime during each day, I find the time to rest and revitalize.
Enjoying short periods of rest enable me to live a well-rounded life. I work hard and play hard. But then, I relax.
Even in the busiest of circumstances, I force myself to take a break.
Work can be hectic. When it is, I go to my office and close the door. I sit at my desk and place my head down for a few minutes. I close my eyes.
Then, I use visualization to imagine myself in a relaxing place. I think of a soft, sandy beach or a puffy cloud floating in the sky. I imagine myself lying on the beach or riding atop that cloud. After four or five minutes, I am refreshed and ready to work again.
At home, I occasionally feel frayed and tired. So, I grab a glass of iced tea, sit in my favorite chair, and prop up my feet. I close my eyes or sometimes choose to read.
Sometimes, I switch on the television and get lost in a good show or movie for a few minutes to replenish and revive. Brief respites are my saving grace.
Today, I allow myself time to rest in order to regain my vitality. This helps me feel calmer and more productive.
